And don't rain on my children's soccer game or pitching machine game or Webelos Day Camp. Well, actually it snowed on the scouts. It is June in Idaho and nearly impossible to make outdoor plans. I think we will stick with indoor guitar lessons that won't be cancelled. This was was one of the rare evenings we got to play outside. I'm looking forward to many more.

I thought she was nervous, but she said she was holding back tears of joy. As a missionary I watched as a young family was baptized. The father went first. The little kids waited for their turns and watched from the bathrooms. They were so excited. As their dad came out of the water they cheered for joy. The sound echoed. I was reminded of that sound as McKell came up from the water. I imagined the cheers from those on the other side as she she showed her obedience and desire to keep the commandments. We are so proud of her and appreciate the support from family. I know many of you were with us in spirit.

Good thing she has been a good girl this year. They opened a case in the back and she will get her wish, unless I decide to sell it on eBay.

I will be perusing the kitchen section of CSN and deciding what item to review in the next few days. It might be a hard decision, because I already have a happy kitchen. When you mix science experiments with a birthday party you get the best birthday party ever. In this shot they are creating lava lamps. I'll admit it. I felt a little guilty for the simple parties I throw my kids.

We interrupted the fun for a group photo. Yes, that is a bounce house and slide.

I can't believe how this year has flown. We celebrated the last nice day of the year at the pumpkin patch. It was nearly dark, but we still had fun.

I love this photo. Forgive me if my mommy goggles are a bit too thick.

I love this one too, but it would prabably work better as two separate images. What do you get when you add three more to the mix? Chaos. This is what I have so far.

Think we can use it on our Christmas cards? One of us was ready, bless her heart. And then of course my 5 year hold is doing "princess hands." If nothing else, using a self timer with a long lens was a great work out for me, running back and forth, until the kids wanted to try running too. Here is hoping I can come up with something wall worthy.

First Day of School

Last night felt like Christmas Eve with all of the excitement in the air. We haven't finished with our summer fun, but it is already time for school. I can't believe we have a kindergartner. She counted down the minutes. I found it difficult to leave her.

At least I still have this one to hug during the day. My house may actually stay clean. Maybe I could even scrapbook the last 8 months, or take a nap.

Bear Lake

Emma loved the lake as much as we do. She would squeal when she saw it. The sand didn't taste too bad because she ate it more than once. She absolutely loved the dogs. She would point and say, "Daw!" This is our neighbor's sister's new puppy.

Next to tubing, this was Collin's favorite. I tried to convince him to go play in the water because we can dig at Sandy Downs anytime, but they made their Dad dig one hole after another.

We have the same photo of Hana sleeping at Bear Lake three years ago. We had so much fun. Can't wait for next year.

I think the kids did a great job decorating their cake. Collin took it very seriously.

She wanted nothing to do with this head band, so I had to be quick. We watched the fireworks from our driveway. We were so tired that we were happy to not be stuck in traffic, until the next morning when the kids wanted to know when we would be going to the River to watch the fireworks. Umm, maybe next year?

Independence Day

When I got up Saturday morning, I thought we were going to the parade. At the last minute we decided to ride the Alpine slide in Jackson. Good thing, because from what I have heard, the parade was cold enough to require hot chocolate and a winter coat. Torrey took the long way, and by long - I mean a dirt road through Wolverine Canyon. It was beautiful. But the one time we ventured out of the car we paid dearly with mosquito bites. We stopped in Alpine for a picnic. That is where these photos were taken. Please disregard the Oreo cookie smiles. We didn't buy a single firework. Can you believe it?

It's unfortunate that this picture isn't a video. It didn't end well. Hana twisted sideways. Instead of landing on her feet, she landed on her hip and arm. Yikes! She recovered quickly enough to try it again.

I love how they are clinging to one another as if they were headed for a waterfall.

Pine Basin

The place hasn't changed a bit. Well, except for the Ga Ga pit. Did you know I worked there one summer as the cook? My husband didn't, but he just must not have been listening. Collin has been so excited to spend the week there. He hopes it will be the first of many summers to come. I wasn't prepared for how choked up I felt when it was time to say good bye. It was Kindergarten all over again. Except he was so excited. I should have brought the camera to capture his giant grin. I only had one day to fit in an entire week of mothering, but he didn't let me bother him one bit. I was also worried about how his sisters would do with out the ring leader. He chooses the entertainment, but they were just fine without their tour guide. In fact, McKell was being really bossy. When I scolded her she told me that she was taking over the part as oldest child.
Don't tell him that I said so, but three was so much easier than four, even when the fourth is nine years old. We made our plans with outings to the park and I didn't have to worry about whether or not what we were doing was what he wanted to do. We still didn't get everything done that we had planned to do, but there is more summer left.

We were excited to go to camp on Thursday and see him. He said he had forgotten what we look like. I was shocked to see him walking barefoot in the forest. His shoes got wet chasing snakes. I made him wear his water socks. This is the shelter he and the boys built.

I love the look on Emma's face. Boy does she want those flowers Hana is holding.

This is her blessing dress made by my mom. She wanted to crawl away rather than be photographed. That requires a whole new set of skills to capture her.

No, I did not crochet this dress. It was a gift from Marci for McKell when we worked in the Music Office. She bought it from a woman who used to crochet while she drove to work. I think that might be worse than texting while driving. We love this dress. Hana wore it in the photo printed in the Melissa Francis catalog.

This is my blessing dress made by my maternal grandmother.

We are loving soccer this season. My girl scored the first two goals of the game on Saturday. Fun! She couldn't have done that without a great team. Her coach is doing an awesome job teaching her how to play in position and corner kicking. I wish this were a summer sport, because the weather is finallt getting nice.

I love the tongue shots. Total concentration.

I could use some of these beautiful blue skies today. Is it spring break yet?

Why do the Lego children look happier than my own? Could it be that they like having their picture taken even less than they like waiting in line? We had a rough start and it was crowded (not as crowded as Disney). Collin finally found his favorite rides (which were not Daddy's favorites). They smiled later, I just didn't get a picture of it.

If you are planning a trip to Legoland, I would recommend you bring one adult per child. The girls and I spent a lot of time in line only to discover that they couldn't both ride. Very frustrating! I would also recommend you bounce back. It was free. It almost made the first day affordable. And don't forget your socks. My 6 year old thought her new Christmas slippers would make great foot wear. I grabbed her shoes. We stopped at one of the shops and a 4 pack cost us more than $20. That's not the souvenir I had planned. And you can't leave without eaiting Granny Smith's Apple Fries. Mmm!

The Girl Can Play

She is a natural. This was her first game and she just blew me away. She moved the ball all the way down the field and a team mate kicked it in. Woohoo! She now loves running and she is pretty good at it. It was fun for Collin to switch roles and be the cheer leader. She was afraid to fail, but Collin assured her that even if her team lost there would still be treats. That made her happy. Her team won.

This shot makes me think that dance lessons are paying off.

I pulled them out of bed at 5:30 A.M. to avoid the heat. They lasted half an hour before they set down their buckets and watched the portable DVD player. The oldest was more interested in hiking than stopping to pick. We managed to pick three batches of jam. We have enjoyed shakes, pancakes, and huckleberry cinnamon rolls.

After a blizzard, Torrey heard scratching at the front door. He opened it to find this cute little kitty. I am terribly allergic, but it was too cold to just let the kitty go. So we kept him in our garage for a couple of weeks until I got a sinus infection. Luckily my sister's sister-in-law wanted a kitty so now he has an allergy free home. We miss him.

Jump Rope Club

Jump rope club is so much fun. She learned lots of fancy tricks. The first requirement is to jump 25 times in a row. We are up to 7 jumps. These pictures do not capture the giant smile she had on her face. Or the smile on my face when she fell asleep early after burning off so much energy. We love our jumper.

build her nest in the shed this spring.
Swallows built their homes in the neighboring cliff. Now our sunflowers are feeding these birds. Can anyone identify what type of bird it is? Hana loves the red ones. I shot these through the window because they spook really easily.

My husband learned a valuable lesson about impulse purchases. He went to the pet store for tutle food and my son talked him into $60 worth of food, cage and a pet mouse. I was shocked. Do you know how many mice we have killed on purpose at the cabin? I was against it. My allergies went crazy which I later determined was from the mouse bedding. It lasted a week. There was just no way to keep his wheel clean and he STUNK! So we taped him into a shoe box and carefully cleaned his cage the night before we planned to return him to the pet store. The next morning, one problem. No mouse! He chewed his way out. Now I had a mouse in my house on purpose. Ick! Luckily, Collin found the mouse that afternoon. Woohoo! The little guy was under the bed. Cute or not, we were happy to return him to the pet store.
